The Cycle
The rock cycle goes around and around. It never stops. First a rock could be metamorphic. The rock would change over time into igneous rock it would be pressed into the earth`s mantel. The metamorphic rock is then melted into magma. When a volcano erupts the lava will cool into igneous rock.
The igneous rock could change into sedimentary rock by water that would slowly wear away the igneous rock into sediments. The sediments then erode into layers which cause presure on the bottom layer it then forms sedimentary rock.
The sedimentary rock could then change by heat and preasure and then the sedimentary rock will be metamorphic rock.
The cycle will go back around and around. The cycle will never stop.

METAMORPHIC ROCK
The reason metamorphic rocks are called metamorphic is because they are rocks that have been morphed (changed) from either igneous rock or sedimentary rock. Either types of rocks were under tuns of dirt and pressure. The heat builds up and the rock morphs into metamorphic rock.
SEDIMENTARY ROCK
For thousands of years wind and water has been eroding earths surface. Bits of earth wash away by streams and then settle in the bed of lakes, oceans, and rivers. The layers pile on top of each other and form pressure on the bottom layer. Causing sediments to form sedimentary rock.
IGNEOUS ROCK
Igneous rock can be formed above or below the earth`s crust. Underground igneous rock is formed by magma that is cooling. When a volcano erupts magma will rise above earths crusts it is then going to be called lava. When the lava flows it cools and hardens and turns into igneous rock.
